On behalf of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, Regional Standing Committee for Asia and Oceania (IFLA- RSCAO), and on my personal behalf, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Ms Lin Li Soh, Regional Manager and Ms Janice Ow Fung Yin of IFLA Regional Office for Asia and Oceania in the National Library Board, Singapore for taking the initiative to publish the quarterly e-newsletter on activities, information and events from Asia and Oceania region from April 2018 onwards.

My name is Lin Li and I am the new Manager of IFLA Regional Office for Asia and Oceania. To better serve the region, we would be bringing news about the various libraries activities to everyone through this quarterly electronic newsletter.

2018 IFLA Asia and Oceania Section Standing Committee Mid-Term Meeting and Exchange Seminar for Libraries in Asia and Oceania

IFLA Regional Standing Committee for Asia and Oceania (RSCAO) meets twice a year to discuss library matters relating to the Region. This year, the mid-term meeting was held in Seoul, Korea from 9 to 10 April 2018. The National Library of Korea hosted the meeting at the Digital Library building, which is part of the National Library of Korea.

Asia and Oceania Satellite Meeting at Kolkata, India

IFLA-Asia and Oceania Section and Education and Training Section will jointly organize a satellite meeting on 20-21 August 2018 at the Department of Library & Information Science; University of Calcutta, Kolkata, WB, India. The Theme of the meeting is Transforming the society: libraries as the torch-bearer of change.

IFLA Presidential Meeting and IFLA Global Vision Workshop in Barcelona:

Sanjay K Bihani and Tina Yang, RSCAO Chair and Secretary participated at the IFLA Presidential Meeting and a two-day workshop on IFLA Global Vision in Barcelona. The event was attended by 143 participants from 35 countries.

Ms. Saraya Arbi, Deputy Secretary General (Culture) of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture officiated at the 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia (PPM) or the Librarians Association of Malaysia at the Great Hall of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang on 26 March 2018.
