IFLA has announced that a postal ballot is being held for the following IFLA Standing Committee 2019 – 2023 elections where the number of nominees exceeded the number of vacancies.
Theme: "Theme 1: Local History and Genealogy in multiethnic societies, the impact of genetic mapping and digitized sources and Theme 2: Libraries as mediators, producers and partners in the development of community awareness and cultural understanding"
The open session of the IFLA Regional Section for Asia and Oceania – RSCAO (organised by the Regional Standing Committee – RSCAO) plans to contribute to this year’s WLIC theme of “Libraries: Dialogue for Change”, by exploring how libraries have empowered their communities by way of creating trusted space and stimulating dialogue.

IFLA WLIC 2018 with the theme “Transform Libraries, Transform Societies”, jointly organised by IFLA, Librarians Association of Malaysia (PPM) and the National Library of Malaysia was successfully held from 24 to 30 August 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
The ASEAN CAUCUS, jointly organised by the National Library of Malaysia and National Library Board, Singapore, was held on 25 August 2018. The session took place at The Plenary Theatre of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Malaysia.
