Executive Guide on Digital Preservation released

UNESCO PERSIST and the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) have collaborated to produce the UNESCO/DPC Executive Guide on Digital Preservation, an online resource for raising awareness of the importance of digital preservation, leading to action to preserve digital assets, including digital documentary heritage, in an institution, organization or government.

Preserving and Promoting the Igbo Language in Libraries

2019 is the International Year of Indigenous Languages. IFLA has been celebrating and promoting the year, sharing stories of libraries from all over the world, which are contributing to the safeguarding and promotion of indigenous languages and cultures. Protecting Cultural Property - The Hague Convention and its two Protocols

Last week IFLA attended the International Conference on the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention hosted by UNESCO in Geneva, Switzerland. The Conference brought together States representatives, experts, academics and civil society representatives to share achievements and challenges facing the implementation of the Protocol and in protecting cultural heritage against the threats by conflict or disaster.

Libraries and Cultural Diversity: Preserving Heritage, Promoting Dialogue

IFLA has submitted comments to the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights on the subject of cultural diversity and human rights. UN report: 10th anniversary of the mandate in cultural rights

To mark the 10th anniversary of the mandate on cultural rights and the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights has written a report to give an overview of the work of her mandate including suggestions for strategies for advancing cultural rights during the next decade.
