Herman LiebaersBelgian newspapers report that on 9 November former IFLA President Dr. Herman Liebaers passed away at the age of 91.

In 1956, after having been the Librarian of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) from 1954-1956, Liebaers was appointed Director-General of the Belgian National Library Albert I (Brussels). From 1973 until 1981 he was Marshal of the Royal Household of King Baudouin of Belgium.

Herman Liebaers was President of IFLA from 1969 until 1974; he was appointed Honorary President in 1974.
