IFLA Announces Host for LAC Regional Office

IFLA is pleased to announce an agreement with the Library of the National Congress (Biblioteca del Congreso de la Nación) in Buenos Aires, Argentina to host the IFLA Regional Office for the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Gerald Leitner, IFLA Secretary General, has signed an agreement with Alejandro Lorenzo César Santa, General Coordinating Director for a two-year period to the end of 2018. Mr Jerónimo Vitti has been named as the Regional Manager.
IFLA’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean was first established in Caracas, Venezuela, moved to Brazil from 1990 – 2011, Mexico from 2011 – 2016 and will now be based in Argentina. The role of the Regional Office is to support IFLA’s members and library associations. “A growing energy and activity in librarians and libraries is definitely noticeable across the region and IFLA’s Regional Office will provide greater connection amongst them,” said Mr Leitner.
