IFLA attains charity status
13 August 2024
Note: A version of this announcement was sent by the IFLA President and IFLA Secretary General on 9 August 2024, directly to all IFLA Members and affiliates, including directors and presidents of library associations.
We are excited to announce that the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) has been awarded charity status (ANBI status, Cultural ANBI) by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. ANBI stands for Algemeen nut beogende instelling in Dutch, or “Public Benefit Organisation” in English. An ANBI is an institution that serves the general interest of society.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the decision of our Members to amend our Statutes during the General Assembly in June. We extend our sincere gratitude to all of you for your support.
Attaining charity status will make it easier for IFLA to partner with other organisations, and contribute to our wider efforts to ensure financial sustainability. To learn more, you can review our briefing on our application for ANBI status, and more will be shared in the August 2024 message from the IFLA President.
