Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals – a Russian example
19 January 2016
The International Documents Centre of the Official and Standard Publications Department of the Russian Federation and the UN Information Centre held a round table on the “Global Goals 2030: UN offers a new agenda for humanity”. The special event, which had participation of Russian experts and representatives of UN organizations, was focused on the 70th anniversary of UN and the new Sustainable Development Goals. The event was held in the Russian State Library and is a very good example of how the IFLA Toolkit on Libraries and the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda can be used to raise the profile of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in a national context.
The event brought together all stakeholders relevant for the successful implementation of the 2030 Agenda and by taking place in the library, raised the importance of libraries and the access to information they provide to the relevant policy makers. IFLA strongly encourages libraries to initiate similar events and raise their profile on a national level.
