Impact Officer
As the Impact Officer you will engage in work related to building a culture of impact evaluation across IFLA, including IFLA Headquarters, IFLA’s volunteer groups and the wider library field. You will help maintain and develop the Library Map of the World in order to help it realise its potential both as a showcase of libraries’ potential to partners, and a tool for building an understanding of the power of data and evaluation. You will also engage in planning for impact, monitoring and evaluation helping to ensure that IFLA as an organisation is able to demonstrate its impact to its members, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders.
In this role, you will work closely with IFLA team members in ensuring that our projects are effectively meeting objectives, delivering outcomes and making a tangible difference in our diverse communities.
The role
- Participate in planning for impact and design impact evaluation frameworks, applying quantitative and qualitative methodologies, based on but not limited to the Theory of Change.
- Collect, analyse and interpret data and evidence to assess the performance and impact of projects and initiatives, in particular as relates to grant-funded projects.
- Develop and maintain databases and platforms for impact evaluation purposes.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations and stories to demonstrate the impact of our work to different audiences, stakeholders and communities.
- Engage with IFLA team members to integrate evaluation and findings into project design and improvement.
- Work with IFLA communications colleagues in order to demonstrate IFLA’s own impact to members and external stakeholders.
- Engage with the global library field in order to build a culture of impact and evaluation, including through workshops and coaching.
- Curate the contents for the Library Map of the World, including library statistics, country profiles and SDG stories, in order to enhance the utility and use of the Library Map in advocacy.

The following is required
- Proven experience in designing impact evaluation frameworks and conducting impact evaluations, preferably in a non-profit or development context.
- Proficiency in using appropriate data analysis and data visualization tools and software including but not limited to Excel, Tableau, Power BI.
- Ability to support strategic and operational planning and align impact evaluation work with IFLA’s strategic and operational priorities.
- Experience in training others, both formally and informally.
- Fluency in English.
- Demonstrate and behave in line with IFLA’s values – Collaboration, Accountability, Innovation and Respect.
- Applicants must be able to work immediately in the Netherlands.
The following are desirable
- Written and verbal communication skills in another of IFLA’s official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Spanish).
- Familiarity with project management tools and software.
- Experience in delivering workshops on planning and evaluating impact.
- Demonstrable interest in the library and information field.
We offer
- Gross salary in accordance with your experience and skills between € 3,623 and € 4,629 a month and other benefits including commuting costs.
