An event in Uruguay, led by civil society organisations and the United Nations, has started the process for the national implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda.
IFLA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Latin American Blind Union (ULAC). Both organisations believe that we need to ensure the Marrakesh Treaty enters into force, and implement its principles on the ground. This agreement will allow us to make important progress towards ensuring equitable and sustainable access to information for visually impaired people.

IFLA has co-signed a letter in response to comments made by Hachette Livre CEO Arnaud Nourry at this week's International Publishers' Congress. In it, we reject entirely the argument that libraries are proxies for the commercial sector, and invite publishers and others to work with us in passing limited but necessary reforms to copyright. These will strengthen the legal base on which librarians rely in order to fulfil their missions at a local, European and global level.
