The IFLA Governing Board has endorsed Principles of Engagement in library-related activities in times of crisis, conflict or disaster. As the conflict in Syria continues to deteriorate, and following its first statement of May 2011, the Blue Shield reaffirms its deep concern regarding the safeguarding of the country’s invaluable cultural and historical heritage and bemoans the great suffering and loss of life the situation has entailed.
