Second International Conference on African Digital Libraries & Archives (ICADLA-2)
ICADLA-2 is a two part event - a three day workshop, Digital Futures: From Digitization to Delivery, (14-16 November 2011) and a two day conference, Developing National and Institutional Digitization Strategies, (17-18 November 2011). It will be held at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa from 14 - 18 November 2011.
The conference will be opened by the South African Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture at the University of the Witwatersrand on Thursday, 17 November 2011. Delegates from national libraries and archives, universities and associations, from across Africa will gather to develop digitisation strategies, discuss management and capacity issues and form partnerships during the 2-day conference. Under the spotlight will be discussions about: Capacity and Resource Mobilisation, Policy, Legislative Frameworks and African Experiences, Collaborative Projects and Programmes, International Best Practice and the International Arena, Technical Issues and Resource Discovery Tools.
Speakers from throughout Africa including Burundi, Namibia, Kenya, Morocco, Eritrea, Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Malawi will present papers.
