Workshop on Business and Human Rights

The IFLA Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean was present at the Workshop on Business and Human Rights organized by the Ombudsman´s Office and sponsored by the High Commissioner Office for Human Rights (OHCHR), UNDP Argentina, Argentina Global Compact Network and the Danish Institute for Human Rights and it was held on 17 August in the "Jorge Luis Borges" Hall of the National Library.

Three panels were developed by Amerigo Incalcaterra (South American Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner Office for Human Rights), Dante Pesce (Member of the United Nations High Commissioner Office for Human Rights and Business Working Group), Marta Oyhanarte (Member of the United Nations Committee of the Experts on Public Administration) and Fernando Passarelli (Coordinator of the Value + RSE + Competitiveness Program, Amia), among others. The panels were moderated by Dr. Mariana Grosso, Head of the Public Services Area of the Ombudsman's Office.

Through this event, it was sought to promote the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which were approved by A/HRC/RES/17/4, on June 6, 2011. During the day, it was explained what the principles are, how to implement them, what is the link with Agenda 2030 and the role of the State for their implementation.
