Call for papers: Metropolitan Libraries main programme at WLIC 2016 in Columbus

IFLA’s Metropolitan Libraries Section invites you to submit a proposal for its main programme at the 82nd IFLA World Library and Information Congress to be held in Columbus, U.S.A., 13-19 August 2016.

Theme:
"Regenerating the public library? Rebranding, retail and Dewey-less versus traditional models"

Public libraries, especially in large urban areas, are experiencing an exciting period of regeneration. The programme will provide an opportunity to share projects that explore new trends such as rebranding, inspiration from the retail sector, Dewey-less ways of display, new programming, community engagement and future models. In a sort of "mock trial", the programme intends to confront the new with the traditional models.

The IFLA Metropolitan Libraries Section provides an international platform for professional communication and understanding of topics related to libraries of cities and urban areas of more than 400.000 inhabitants.

Papers presenting innovative projects, initiatives or services from all over the world are expected. The deadline for submitting a detailed abstract is 28 February 2016.

Please refer to the IFLA WLIC 2016 website for full details.
