Be Open to Open Science – Libraries Call on All Stakeholders to Play a Constructive Role

Libraries today urged all players to work together and apply their efforts to build an open science system.

In a statement responding to the conclusions of the EU Competitiveness Council, as well as the International Association of STM Publishers’ reaction, IFLA, EBLIDA and LIBER underlined the importance of open access and open science for human progress. They offered their strong support for the ministers' ambition to make all research open access by 2020, and rejected the arguments of those who seek to stall this movement.

IFLA itself has long supported Open Access policies which give research the widest audience possible, driving scientific progress and potentially saving lives. We look forward to working with all actors to realising these goals.
