Government Libraries Section - Berlin Satellite Meeting 2017

The Government Libraries Section is pleased to invite government librarians and information professionals to its satellite meeting in Berlin on 25-26 August, following the 2017 WLIC in Wroclaw. For those coming from Wroclaw, we suggest taking the Polskibus coach service to Berlin on 24 August.

Graciously hosted by the Bundestag Library, the morning theme of the workshop on Friday 25 August will be the revision of Guidelines for Libraries of Government Departments focussing on Chapter 11 Advocacy, and how these can tie in with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. After lunch, we look at how individual country examples tie in with the SDGs. The keynote presentation will be made by the German Interior Ministry Library, followed by a UK Government Libraries example. The workshop will start at 9:00 sharp and end at 15:00.

Following the workshop, our evening meal will be held at the Zollpackhof Restaurant and Biergarten.

The next day, Saturday 26 August, is an opportunity to see more of historic Berlin with the rest of the group. Planned activities include a morning visit to the former Prussian State Library, and an afternoon walking tour of the city centre. Or you can do your own thing.

There is no charge for attending although participants are expected to book their own accommodation and travel, and pay for all meals. We recommend staying at the Motel One Hauptbahnhof, which is convenient for both the Bundestag and the main station.

Update 27 July, 2017: This is now fully booked. However, we have a waiting list in case last minute places become available. Please email Jonathan Ginn if you want to be added to this waiting list.
