Proposed Competency Standards and Guidelines for Rare Book and Special Collections Professionals

The RBSC Committee is creating these guidelines to describe the education, experience, and skill sets needed or expected of those professionals involved with the acquisition, preservation, research and instruction of rare and unique materials in special collections and archives in libraries or other organizations.  Until a formal set of guidelines is accepted, the ACRL / ALA Rare Books and Manuscript Section’s Competencies for Special Collections Professionals is available for reference.
