62nd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF PERSATUAN PUSTAKAWAN MALAYSIA

Ms. Saraya Arbi, Deputy Secretary General (Culture) of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture officiated at the 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia (PPM) or the Librarians Association of Malaysia at the Great Hall of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang on 26 March 2018.

President’s welcome address 

At the meeting, Dato’Nafisah binti Ahmad was elected President of the new Council for the 2018/2020 term. Hasnita binti Ibrahim is the new Vice President 1 and Chin Loy Jyoon, Vice President 2. The new Treasurer is Rohaya binti Omar and the Members comprised Ali bin Rashid, Ghazali Mohd. Fadzil, Dr. Khasiah binti Zakaria, Shamsiah binti Abu Bakar, Siti Sumaizan binti Ramly, and Zawawi bin Tiyunin.

The guest of honour presented the best students from the LIS schools to Mr. Mohd. Shahril Nizam Ibnu Sahad from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Ms. Arunnasundari a/p Ramani from University of Selangor (UNISEL), Ms. Hamizah Hafit from International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM)and Ms. Nurfarwahidah Badruesham from University of Malaya (UM). The Most Active Committee went to PPM Committee on Law Libraries and the Most Active Group to PPM East Group. Mr. Ali Rashid from National Library of Malaysia received the Most Promising Librarian while Dr. Nor Edzan Che Nasir was the Librarian of the Year.

The occasion also witnessed the launched of PPM’s latest publication, Standard Perpustakaan Universiti / University Library Standards by Ms. Saraya Arbi. The Director of the Department of Skills Development of the Ministry of Human Resources, Mr. Nidzam Kamarulzaman handed the National Occupational Skills Standards to Dato’ Nafisah Ahmad. The guest of honour then visited the booths of various library vendors and suppliers.
