The IFLA LAC general objective is to promote access to information and knowledge, giving priority to issues on information literacy, promotion of reading, use of ICTs, library education and the defense of the profession in order to contribute to the strengthening of professional skills and those related to library and information services.
The Section aims to support information professionals from the region to strength their leadership through their Associations. Another objective is to foster LAC cooperation and integration with other professional units of IFLA, as well as represent the region, articulating an active LAC participation of global impact to therefore contribute to literate and informed societies.
El objetivo general de la Sección, es fomentar actividades relacionadas con el acceso a la información y el conocimiento; priorizando la alfabetización informacional, la promoción de la lectura, el uso de TIC, la educación bibliotecológica y la defensa de la profesión, así como contribuir al fortalecimiento de las competencias profesionales y de los servicios bibliotecarios.
La Sección tiene como meta apoyar a los profesionales de la región a través de sus Asociaciones, para fortalecer su liderazgo. Igualmente, busca estrechar sus lazos de cooperación e integración con grupos profesionales de IFLA, representando a la región con participación regional de impacto global, y así contribuir a la construcción de sociedades alfabetizadas, e informadas.
