Summary: The core aim of the six-year Hebrew Manuscripts Digitisation Project is to provide free online access to Hebrew manuscripts from the British Library’s collection, through manuscript conservation and imaging, catalogue creation and online presentation. The outputs are detailed and searchable catalogue records and fully digitised manuscripts. This project also included a digital scholarship component, aiming to encourage and facilitate research and new work using the new digital collection.

Description
The core aim of the six-year Hebrew Manuscripts Digitisation Project is to provide free online access to Hebrew manuscripts from the British Library’s collection, through manuscript conservation and imaging, catalogue creation and online presentation.
The manuscripts cover the whole range of Hebrew written material, including biblical and liturgical works, philiosphy, poetry and legal documents, and come from the whole of the Jewish diaspora, including Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, India and China.
The outputs are detailed and searchable catalogue records and fully digitised manuscripts. This project also included a digital scholarship component, aiming to encourage and facilitate research and new work using the new digital collection.
