The World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders, convened by UCLG, is the largest gathering of mayors, presidents of associations, councillors, and local and regional practitioners from around the world.

United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) represents and defends the interests of local governments on the world stage, regardless of the size of the communities they serve. 

This year’s edition, held from 11 to15 November in Durban, South Africa, will bring a a renewed format and enhanced collaboration between members and partners. It is a great opportnity to underline the contribution that successful libraries can make to successful communities. 

IFLA President, Christine Mackenzie will speak at a special session devoted to the “Future of Culture”.  The session will focus on how cultural policies of cities can be improved and will explore the role of networks on culture in the global conversation on culture and development.
