The new 2019-2020 Action Plan for the National Libraries Section has been agreed and is now available through our Publications page. Highlights include proposed work on the sharing of competencies, case studies and insipiring initiatives relating to national libraries – this includes a comprehensive look at national libraries and legal deposit at the 2020 World Library and Information Congress in Dublin, Ireland and the development of a web tool to collect, visualise, and deepen national libraries’ core functions and share best practicies. There will be continuing work on the development of standards and guidelines, which is a central activity of the section. This area of focus will include fostering the implementation of ISO Standard 21248:2019 which relates to national libraries, enriching a database of case studies on digital unification on the IFLA website, and continuing the development of the Guidelines for Setting up a Digital Unification Project which was released during WLIC 2019. Finally, the section will continue to publishing its monthly roundup of national libraries news – you can subscribe to this newsletter by registering for our mailing list here.

The 2019-2020 Annual Plan, along with plans from previous years, is available on our Publications page.
