Watermarks Lecture Series: Studying Time Periods for Watermarks Through Paper and Electronic Indexes
15 March 2021
The Preservation and Conservation (PAC) Centre hosted at Qatar National Library presents the second event in the Watermarks Lecture Series: Studying Time Periods for Watermarks Through Paper and Electronic Indexes.
This lecture discusses the most important watermark indexes, the forms used in each index, and the studied time periods in each paper or electronic index. For example, the Briquet's Index covers watermarks from 1282 to 1600 AD. What are forms that are listed in Charles-Moïse Briquet's encyclopedia on watermarks? This lecture will assist researchers to shorten the time spent searching for the date of scribing a manuscript that includes a specific watermark by directly previewing the index that contains the watermark under study without wasting time searching within all the indexes.
Speaker: Fattouma bin Yahia, Head of Manuscripts and Rare Books Department, National Library of Algeria
The event will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams.
