Visit the Capital of Sweden, also called ”the beauty on water”, The city is built on 14 islands and is placed between the Baltic sea and Lake Mälaren. The city is over 750 years old and is steeped in tradition and history, with its narrow passageways and lanes, cobbled streets, numerous museums and beautiful palaces.

Day 1 - 7th August

Own arrival arrangements. Meet at the hotel, Clarion Hotel Sign Norra Bantorget, Stockholm. Guided orientation tour of the city including a visit the most visited attraction, the Vasa Museum. Check in to your hotel before enjoying a walk and dinner in the Old Town.

Day 2 - 8th August

Walk down to the quay and board a boat to the Drottningholm Royal Palace. As well as being the residence for the royal family this has also become a Swedish world heritage contribution. It is Sweden’s best preserved palace built in the 16th century. Afternoon at leisure for some shopping, relaxation or exploring the city. In the evening you will take a ferry and enjoy dinner in a restaurant by the water.

Day 3 - 9th August

Visit Skansen, the oldest open-air museum in the world, founded in 1891. Take a walk around the park and learn about the life and nature in the different parts of Sweden. You will find old farm houses, city quarters and animals from this part of the world. End the visit with lunch. Afternoon: departure.

Swedish Crystal Design

Date: 17 - 18 August 2010, 1 night /1.5 days

Day 1 - 17th August

A coach will pick you up at the Convention Centre. A guide will tell you all about the Sweden culture and Swedish Design. The bus trip is around 4 hours drive to the village Kosta, stop for coffee. Kosta is a village of crystal factories and design and a brand new hotel has been built filled with glass and design. Although the hotel is an experience in itself with its glass bar (Glasbaren), various events, glass artwork and specially designed rooms, the Kingdom of Crystal is also worth exploring. There are virtually no limits as to what you can do and experience with glass. You can try glassblowing in the glassworks and take your own glass creation home with you, taste traditional “hot shop herring”, see an art exhibition, visit the glass museum, enjoy a guided tour of glassworks and of course, go shopping. The beautiful countryside of Småland Province is always just around the corner, with opportunities for hunting, fishing and excursions.

The dinner in the evening will be a very local tradition. Experience a traditional ”hyttsill” which is a Småländsk food and socializing tradition which originates from the glassworks greatness. Try: Salt herring, Smoked pork sausage, Fried salted pork, Baked potatoes, Swedish cheesecake. Overnight at Kosta Boda Art Hotel.

Day 2 - 18th August

Breakfast and visit at Glass factories and shopping. Coach travels
back to Gothenburg in the evening.
