Access Innovation: delivering information to all

Español

The Serials and Other Continuing Resources Section (SOCRS) invites colleagues to submit proposals for its two-hour open session at the IFLA Congress in Puerto Rico.

Papers submitted for consideration should focus on issues relating to innovative ways of providing access to serials information and delivering access to all.

In particular, we would welcome papers that address the following issues:

  • Successful initiatives in widening access to serials in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and emerging countries around the world.
  • Is the Big Deal dead? Are new models emerging?  What issues does this raise for all participants in the serials information chain?
  • The role of philanthropic programmes in providing access for all.
  • Implications of the economic downturn on access to serial information – does this prompt libraries and publishers to innovate in ways of delivering serials to all

Proposals must include the following information:

  1. Name and institution of speaker(s)
  2. Contact information for speaker(s)
  3. Brief biographical information
  4. Proposal title
  5. Brief (250 word) abstract of the proposed paper
  6. Language of presentation

Proposals should be sent by email to Philippe Cantie, Secretary of the SOCR Standing Committee at philippe.cantie@bnf.fr by March 24, 2011.

Finalists will be notified by March 31st 2011, and will be expected to submit final versions of their papers in one of the official IFLA languages by May 15, 2011.

For more information, please contact Philippe Cantie or Helen Adey, Chair of IFLA Serials and other Continuing Resources Section.
