Agricultural Libraries Special Interest Group

The IFLA Agricultural Libraries Special Interest Group in association with the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD) invites papers to be presented at a two-hour session to be held at 77th IFLA General Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico, 13-18 August 2011.

Papers should be based on facts rather than theoretical aspects focusing on any of the facets of the theme. Issues to be addressed include:

• Emerging policies and mandates governing promotion of indigenous knowledge in agriculture and allied fields in the country/region
• Role of national agricultural information centers/libraries in documentation and dissemination of indigenous knowledge in agriculture
• Barriers in accessing indigenous agricultural knowledge in the country/region
• Efforts of universities and research institutes in the country in promoting indigenous knowledge in agriculture
• Efforts of agricultural research/extension funding bodies in facilitating the promotion of indigenous knowledge in agriculture
• Role of international organizations such as FAO, IDRC, CGIAR,CTA,UNESCO, World Bank in promoting indigenous knowledge in agriculture.

Submissions

Interested authors are invited to submit their proposal on any of these aspects for consideration by email to dereddy@tamu.edu.

• The deadline for submitting a detailed abstract (max 500 words) is 15 February 2011
• Upon review of the abstracts, selected authors will be notified by the 3^rd week of February 2011
• Full paper is due on 30 April 2011 and must be original not published elsewhere
• Selected papers should be of 10 pages maximum, single spaced
• Papers should be in English with a one-page abstract
• Each presenter would be allowed 15 minutes for a summary delivery of the paper
• The presenter should not read the paper
• The selected author(s) should indicate personal full contact details and include brief curriculum vitae with the paper

All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel, accommodation etc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation can be issued to authors.
