Theme:
New librarians global connection: best practices, models and recommendations

"New Librarians Global Connection: best practices, models and recommendations" was established in 2012 as a free quarterly series of webinars. It has been very well received by new and established professionals around the globe. As the topics covered so far continue to be of big interest to our community, we would like to bring the most popular themes from the 2012 webinar cycle to Singapore and build an open session around it. A keynote will be followed by several parallel 90 min workshops and a wrap-up of each workshop.

Areas of interest

You are invited to facilitate a workshop that deals with one of the following areas of interest:

  • CPD: Continuing Professional Development for new professionals, how to stay up to date from the very start.
  • Demographics: How to deal with generational differences at work.
  • Going abroad: Leaving your home country, working abroad.
  • Leadership: How to develop leadership skills as a New Professional.
  • Mentoring: Best practices including pros and cons of different approaches such as peer-to-peer and classical mentor-mentee relationships.
  • Theory and practice: LIS school curriculum, gained skills and degrees vs. "the reality" at work. Bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Submission Guidelines

Your workshop proposal might be in one of the following formats:

  • Video
  • Audio recording
  • A visual plan

The session will be conducted in English. All proposals and workshops will be required to be in English.
