Date

12-14 August 2014

Venue

Assemblée Nationale, Paris, France

The IFLA Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section invites proposals for presentations at the Section’s pre-conference programme in Paris on 13 and 14 August 2014.

The first day of the pre-conference will be led by the Assemblée Nationale.

The second day, 14 August 2014, will focus on the role of parliamentary library and research services in supporting legislators and the process of legislation. We are looking for a high level of interactivity, with the papers providing a stimulus for wide discussion among participants.

The theme for this day will be Research and Library Services working together to meet client needs. We invite papers that:

  • Describe the role of parliamentary libraries and research services and how they can work together to keep Parliamentarians well informed;
  • Present case studies where parliamentary libraries and research services have worked together;
  • Explore the organisational context for library and research services within parliaments, including how they work with other services such as committee services, IT services and public information services;
  • Present comparative studies of library and research services;
  • Discuss the evaluation and assessment of services, especially in an environment of budgetary constraints;
  • Describe the establishment of new library and research services and how they can be designed to meet client needs.
