Impact of standards on the international library community

The IFLA Committee on Standards invites papers to be presented at 81st IFLA General Conference and Assembly, Cape Town, South Africa, 15-21 August 2015.

The session will focus on the use of standards in the international library and information community and their impact on services, policies and other standards. In pursuing our investigation on issues identified in the IFLA Trend Report, the session will seek contributions on how IFLA’s professional units are responding to the new and emerging trends and what impact standards will have on the evolution of the new directions in libraries and societies.

Contributions are invited on topics such as:

  • Outcomes of implementing library standards, especially IFLA standards (case studies, best practices, etc.)
  • Critical issues in the implementation of library standards, especially IFLA standards
  • Interaction between IFLA standards and other library standards
