The purpose of the working group for the management of the National Bibliographic Register (WGNBR) is to manage retrospective and incoming data about national bibliographies, including data analysis and publishing NBR details online.


The role of the WGNBR is to:

  • Record bibliography details for new or updated NBR entries;
  • Publish bibliography details for new or updated NBR entries online;
  • Perform data analysis on bibliography details to identify and report on trends in national bibliography;
  • Provide advice on bibliography establishment and maintenance according to Common Practices for National Bibliographies in the Digital Age;
  • Actively engage with NBR registrants to seek current bibliography details; and
  • Perform outreach activities to encourage new NBR registrants.


The WGNBR comprises Standing Committee members of the IFLA Bibliography Section.

Terms of office

The WGNBR is expected to be an ongoing working group to support the sustainable management of the National Bibliographic Register.


The WGNBR will meet electronically. The Chair of the WGNBR will report to the Bibliography Section Chair and will coordinate regular updates to Bibliography Section standing committee members.
