Can you imagine a university, such the University or the Polytechnical School of Lausanne, where the students, the professors and the researchers have no more access to the libraries and the contents of the computers after fire or flood?
That means, without consideration for financial damages and the image of the institutions, at least one year or more loss for the students and the researchers and the definitive loss of an important quantity of scientific data.
COSADOCA
To avoid this situation in case of disaster, a consortium, the COSADOCA, organised with the Archives cantonales vaudoises, the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire de Lausanne and the Library of the polytechnical school of Lausanne train, act and think since 2006.
COSADOCA is made up of the University and the Polytechnical School security services, the librarians, the restorers and the archivists of the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire, the EPFL Libraries and the Archives cantonales vaudoises.
COSADOCA does its best to guarantee the access to the documents even after an important fire or flood.
Conference
The conference organised by the COSADOCA for the IFLA PAC section and core activity, will focuse the 1st day on the following topics :
- Use of RFID in the libraries
- Needs of identification and follow-up of the documents in case of disaster (round table)
- Use of the RFID in the salvage procedure : from the idea to the realization
- Concept of the pratical training
The 2nd day will be dedicated to a real pratical training organized by the COSADOCA and the PCROL on the exercice place of the civil protection of the Canton de Vaud in Gollion.
The participant will take an active participation in the exercice. The equipment will be providing by the organization.
The conference is bilingual with simultaneous translation English-French and French–English.
