Within this environment, we envision that your presence and proactive interaction in IFLA 2011 Puerto Rico will trigger more energy, enthusiasm and creativity, and will bring to forth lots of ideas to enrich and strengthen ties in our learning communities of practice. The proactive opportunity will, therefore, allow us to build up new spaces and formally twin and network for the benefit of our different information units and endeavors, to better serve and satisfy the information needs of all members of our citizenries.

IFLA 2011 Puerto Rico is also extremely important for us in the Caribbean, integrated by a diverse, multicultural and multilingual community that works together with a common goal to reduce the information and communication gap, building and strengthening diverse strategies in the region to ensure this goal.

We are extremely grateful to IFLA’s Governing Board and to the General Assembly for selecting Puerto Rico as the 2011’s site. We are thankful for entrusting us the collaborative role of organising this world event.
