Libraries for Children and Young Adults Section
& School Libraries and Resource Centers Section

Theme:
Building bridges: empowering children & young adults through school-library partnerships

The theme includes school libraries in the educational context, services for school libraries by public libraries, co-location, 'brede school' = joint facility in community centre, including other services: health centre, cultural centre, kindergarten etc.

Programme outline:

Paper presentations, library visits and interactive activities and discussions

Papers can be written and given in English also the abstracts should be submitted in English. Both grassroots and research papers will be accepted. The papers could reflect programmes involving any of the stakeholders in libraries and schools (teachers, librarians, parents and students). Papers on programmes involving all types of public libraries and both primary and secondary schools are welcomed.

Proposals for Papers must be in English and include the following:

  1. Title of proposed presentation
  2. Outline of the proposed presentation (no more than 300 words)
  3. Name(s) of presenter(s)
  4. Position or title of presenter(s)
  5. Presenter(s) employer or affiliated institution
  6. E-mail address
  7. Telephone/fax numbers
  8. Short biographical statement regarding the presenter/s

15 minutes will be allowed for a summary delivery of the paper in the Conference, followed by 5 minutes of discussion, the full written paper is not to be read.

Please note: All expenses incurred for attending the Post conference are the responsibility of the authors whose papers are accepted. Authors/presenters are expected to attend the Post conference in Amsterdam and present their papers in person.

The Review Committee will evaluate all submitted materials and successful applicants will be notified by February 15, 2010.
Full accepted papers must be between 3000 and 6000 words in length and are due by 30th March 2010, so that translations can be organised and must be an original submission not published elsewhere. All papers will be published on the IFLA website.

Submissions

All proposals must be in before 30 January 2010.

Please note

All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel, accommodation etc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation can be issued to authors/presenters if that is required.
