Human Rights Day: 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
A long-awaited high-level event unfolds on 11-12 December 2023. This event will be the culmination of the Human Rights 75 initiative whose three main goals focus on universality, progress and engagement under the leadership of UN Human Rights, together with its partners. Throughout the course of this event, global pledges and ideas for a vision for the future of human rights will be announced.
Human Rights Day 2023 will mark the 75th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. This year’s theme is Dignity, Freedom and Justice for all, and the United Nations have already started preparing for the day with a dedicated website.
Human Rights Day will capture all the moments from this year’s commemoration and seeks to increase knowledge on the universality and indivisibility of human rights, especially among young people, inspire people to create a movement of shared humanity while empowering them to fight for their rights and take action.
IFLA will of course be active, in particular through our Advisory Committee on Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE).
