The General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) take place from 30 September to 9 October 2019. They are the main opportunity to hear updates and take decisions about the work of WIPO across the board.

IFLA is attending the segments focusing on the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) and the Marrakesh Treaty.

SCCR is the committee where Member States are discussing exceptions and limitations to copyright for libraries, as well as archives, museums, education and research.

IFLA is working here to promote international action that will ensure that libraries around the world all have the laws they need to fulfil their missions, and work across borders.

On the Marrakesh Treaty, IFLA is championing efforts to get more countries to sign up, and pass the laws necessary to enable libraries to help people with print disabilities to access knowledge.
