IFLA Satellite Conference Online Registration Now Open!

IFLA Women, Information and Libraries Special Interest Group (WIL) has great pleasure in inviting you to the IFLA Satellite Conference to be held, in cooperation with Women’s Information Network Europe (WINE), at University of Tampere, Finland from Wednesday 8th  to Friday 10th August 2012.

Conference Theme

How can libraries and information centres improve access to women's information and preserve women's cultural heritage?

Conference Sub-themes

  • Library and Information Professionals democratising access to women's information
  • Library and Information Professionals preserving women's cultural heritage
  • Library and Information Professionals working towards gender equality
  • Tool to document and disseminate the history of women

Scope / Objectives of the Conference

The Satellite Conference aims to discuss:

  • ways libraries and information centres provide access to women, human rights and gender information
  • ways to preserve women's cultural heritage
  • the role of libraries and information centres in the internet era, and the role of the internet in democratising access to women's information and information for women

New professionals are specially encouraged to participate.

Registration information

The Conference Registration fee is EUR 100.  This fee includes the scientific programme on Thursday and Friday, a sightseeing tour by bus and a welcome reception in the Old City Hall on Wednesday, conference dinner on Thursday, coffee/tea and lunch on Thursday and Friday, and a guided visit to Tampere City Library on Friday afternoon.

Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card (Visa/VisaElectron, MasterCard). Cheques are not be accepted.

Please note that only full registration is available and that accommodation is not included in the conference fee. A list of recommended accommodation is available on the conference website.

The Conference language is English. Simultaneous translation will not be available.
