A key innovation in IFLA’s Governance Reform was the creation of our new Regional Division Committees and Council, supporting outreach and advocacy, and ensuring a strong voice for the regions in the Federation as a whole. This new study from IFLA sheds light on where libraries around the world are focused in their advocacy, and how they are working to achieve their goals. It is designed to be the catalyst for conversations about how we can strengthen the voice of libraries, globally, regionally and nationally.
With its new Strategy, IFLA not only has a new guiding star for the work of our professional units and headquarters team, but also a reference point for the field as a whole. With the workshop on strategies for stronger libraries in Alexandria, Egypt, IFLA brought new possibilities for alignment and synergies to the Middle East and North Africa region.

From 21 to 22 May, distinguished representatives from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) library community, representing some 17 countries, gathered at the spectacular Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt to discuss how a united library field can tackle to challenges of the future together.
