IFLA President Vicki McDonald will represent the Federation at the official launch of Strasbourg as UNESCO World Book Capital City 2024. She will participate in a busy programme of celebrations and events across the city, and engage with local librarians.

The programme put together by Strasbourg for its 12 months with the title is an exciting one that places s strong emphasis on the significant contribution that libraries make to realising the potential of books and reading as foundations of sustainable urban development.

As a member of the international advisory committee for the programme, IFLA is therefore happy to join in the celebrations for the start of the year, and grateful to the city of Strasbourg for both the invitation, and the positive example it is offering cities around the world.
