IFLA WLIC 2023 Call for Papers: Innovative Approaches in Engaging People with Local History and Genealogy (Deadline Extended: 15 May 2023)
01 Juni 2023
The Local History and Genealogy Section of IFLA is accepting submissions for the satellite meeting at KU Leuven Libraries in Leuven, Belgium, on 17-18 August 2023. The meeting will focus on innovative approaches to engage people with local history and genealogy.
As an element and vector of identity and reinforcing a sense of belonging, local history is a valuable factor for empowering local communities and enabling vulnerable groups to participate fully in social and cultural life. Local history and genealogy collections are also valuable resources for teaching and learning in innovative ways and engaging youth with local history and heritage.
In line with the key topics of the WLIC 2023, like digital knowledge and innovation, development of digital skills, and free access to culture, the IFLA Local History and Genealogy Section invites papers that highlight the various ways people engage with local history and genealogy material. The theme can be broadly interpreted.
