Celebrate #InternationalVolunteersDay with IFLA’s CPDWL Section and New Professionals Special Interest Group on 5 December 2023. As IFLA volunteers, we contribute to our library associations through insightful programs and resources. Join our Meme Contest to showcase your creativity. The top three submissions will earn an eCertificate. All participants’ works will be featured in a CPDWL/NPSIG blog post.

What’s in a Meme?

Make Use Of (MUO) gives a good definition along with examples and useful information.

Who can join the Meme Contest?

All library volunteers, especially IFLA volunteers!

Simple steps to join the Meme Contest:

Joining our Meme Contest from 4-6 December 2023 is straightforward. Follow these seven simple steps:

  1. Choose an image: Use our provided options or select a free stock image from Pixabay, Unsplash, etc. Ensure it’s not copyrighted.
  2. Consider platform dimensions: Twitter (600 x 335px to 1200 x 675px), Facebook (up to 1200 x 630px), or Instagram (up to 1080 x 1080px) for your meme.
  3. Create your meme: Use a free service like imgflip to construct your library meme.
  4. Add alt text: Especially for Twitter posts, make sure your memes are respectful and appropriate.
  5. Join the competition: Complete the registration form.
  6. Share your work: From December 4-6, post your meme on your Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram accounts. Each participant is allowed to submit up to FOUR unique memes. Ensure your post is “public” so we can see your submission.
  7. Tag and hashtag: Tag @IFLACPDWL on Twitter or @IFLA_CPDWL on Instagram, post on the CPDWL Facebook page, and include hashtags #InternationalVolunteersDay and #WeAreIFLA. Don’t forget to tag your library or organization too! For those who’d rather not use personal social media accounts, there’s an alternative! You can directly email your memes to us at [email protected]. We will post them on our social media platforms, ensuring you receive credit for your creative effort!
