IFLA’s Professional Council (PC) is responsible for the guidance of the Professional Structure, as set out in IFLA’s Statutes.

The Council supports the work of the Professional Units and their Officers, including publications and guidelines, and the development of toolkits, policy and initiatives. The PC liaises with the Regional Council in areas of mutual interest and identifies opportunities for collaboration. The Council also establishes procedures for organising the professional content of IFLA’s Congress programme (WLIC), including satellite conferences.

The Council advises and updates the Governing Board on Professional Structure matters and raises any issues of interest or concern.

The Professional Council consists of the PC Chair and the Chairs of the 8 IFLA Professional Division Committees.

The PC meets at least three times a year, often bi-monthly.
