At the request of the Human Rights Council, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in consultation with UNESCO and the Special Rapporteur for Cultural Rights, will explore cultural rights and the protection of cultural heritage.

IFLA has been invited to represent a library perspective on the panel discussing methods to mainstreat a human rights-based approach to cultural heritage. We are excited to join colleagues and partners from the OHCHR, UNESCO’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit, and beyond to discuss the role of libraries in upholding cultural rights in the face of disaster.
