IFLA Secretary General Sharon Memis will talk alongside world mayors and leaders from sister organisations at the United Cities and Local Government Culture (UCLG) Summit.

Held in Dublin, Ireland, from 28 November – 1 December, the Summit will take place under the theme Culture, Future, Goal. In this, it will build on the work carried out by UCLG alongside IFLA in the context of the Culture2030Goal campaign to argue for a dedicated goal on culture in future development frameworks.

The event will bring together mayors and other local government leaders in the culture field to share experience and build momentum towards recognition of the role of culture in driving sustainable development across the board.

IFLA will be present, talking in a number of sessions about the work of libraries, and sharing lessons from research into the place of culture in voluntary national reviews.

The event as a whole is a means of supporting our public and community library members in particular by building support for strong inclusion of libraries in local development strategies.
