Common Practices for National Bibliographies in the Digital Age is fully revised and released under a new title in 2022.

Pre-publication 2021 draft [Common_Practices_for_national_bibliographies_2021-01: PDF – English].

The 2022 edition builds on the web publication Best Practice for National Bibliographic Agencies in a Digital Age (2014-2017). The web resource built on the original printed National Bibliographies in the Digital Age: Guidance and New Directions (2009) created by the IFLA Working Group on Guidelines for National Bibliographies.

The Working Group was originally established in 2002 to develop guidelines:

  • To help national bibliographic agencies start or improve bibliographic services;
  • For publishing bibliographies in electronic form;
  • On the inclusion and presentation of electronic resources in national bibliographies.
