The MetLib learning circle facilitates new forms of learning and networking within the MetLib community. The learning circle focuses on how libraries build partnerships with local residents, civil society, businesses and philanthropies.

The learning circle is for a group of 20 library professionals and continues for a year, starting in November 2022 and finalizing in the MetLib meeting in October 2023. The learning circle meets once a month online for a 1,5-hour session over Zoom. The sessions are run in English. The sessions have pre-read material (article, video, presentation).

The learning circle is facilitated by Bloomberg Public Innovation Fellow Tommi Laitio from Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. He is on a leave of absence from City of Helsinki’s Executive Director for Culture and Leisure, overseeing amongst others the public library. He was the keynote speaker in MetLib meeting 2022 in Oslo and is carrying out research on the skills and practices local governments need in developing parks and public libraries.
