Since its formation, the New Professionals SIG (NPSIG) has welcomed all librarians and LIS students passionate about libraries. Our programs and activities are designed to bring new professionals together in a welcoming environment. One of our famous events, IFLACamp, takes place two days before the World Library and Information Conference. During IFLACamp, we discuss interesting library-related topics and have fun learning about the culture of our host country.

This summer, we are holding IFLACamp online to allow everyone to attend and enjoy this event with us. Our theme for this year is Libraries of the Future. On the first day, we will hold fun activities to let everyone get to know each other. The second day is presentations, which are held at different times to allow everyone from any time zone to attend. These presentations will be in three different sessions, each lasting 80 minutes, and named Around the World in 80 Minutes! We are also going to have a fun contest on social media, asking our followers to create an avatar of the librarian of the future. Make sure to check our social media to find out about IFLACamp 2024.

Over the past years, we have had other exciting events. Our music contest in 2022 was a music competition for librarians. In their music videos, librarians showed their love for libraries and music by singing their songs in English or their native language. You can listen to these songs on our YouTube channel. NPSIG strives to connect new professionals around the globe. If you’re also excited about building the library and information science profession together, come and join us!
