Image of faces with the I'm a lifelong learner tag and a message - add your voiceAccess to education is a human right that is not limited by age. Everyone should have the opportunity, throughout life, to develop new knowledge and skills. Beyond the rights aspect, this is also a development issue, given how foundational education is as a means of catalysing progress from the level of individuals up.

This of course is not a foreign idea to libraries, and in particular public and community libraries, which were often set up precisely in order to deliver on this priority.

However, lifelong learning all too often does not receive the support or status it deserves or needs in order to fulfil its potential.

To ensure a continued focus on the need for successful and inclusive lifelong learning system, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning has launched the #ImALifelongLearner campaign. IFLA is happy to support this work.

To contribute, you can go to the campaign website and upload a photo of yourself to join the others who have already joined. Through this, you will help demonstrate grassroots support for lifelong learning to be properly supported and enabled.
