IFLA Newsletter: February 2023

The message below accompanies the February 2023 edition of the IFLA Newsletter.

IFLA Newsletter, Vol. 3, No. 2

Welcome to the February 2023 IFLA Newsletter!

Librarians are natural cooperators! Not only do we work with each other, but we are also active in building connections and collaborations with other actors, in other sectors, in order to achieve our goal of literate, informed and participatory societies.

Through these, we achieve more than we ever could on our own, making it possible to offer new services, in new ways, to new audiences. And it can also be a lot of fun!

Therefore, and in the light of the UN’s own Forum on the topic a couple of weeks ago, the theme of this month’s IFLA newsletter is partnerships.

Read on to find out more about how different parts of our field are working both with each other, and with external players, for example to promote open access publishing, better metadata, and development as a whole.

Other key topics are our elections – you have just four days to go to make sure that you have submitted your nominee forms, and have enough nominators (if needed) in place! We’re also happy to share further exciting updates about our conference in Rotterdam this August.

Beyond this, there’s all you would expect from our newsletter – news from our professional and regional units, updates on our work around policy and advocacy, including further forecasts on what we can expect in 2023, and a welcome to our new members.

Make sure you read to the bottom, in particular, to make sure you also check out all of the opportunities open to you, including awards, events and more.

Happy reading!
