Education and Training Section joint with Management of Library Associations Section and Continuing Professional Development and Workplace Learning Section

Theme: "Win-Win: building strong education, training and continuing professional development together with strong library associations"

New developments and trends both within the library and information arena and in society, with increased globalisation, urbanisation and digitalisation, emphasise the imperative for library associations and institutions to be ‘learning organisations’ and to develop their staff by providing opportunities for training and development. The specialised skills and qualifications of librarians and other information professionals play a key role in supporting the transformation of society and transforming the ways that libraries provide services to their communities.

Faced with the challenges associated with these ambitious goals, the interaction between the different actors of professional training and development is crucial. Among these actors, library associations must play their full part, both to contribute to this important task for the future of libraries and librarians and to further affirm their own role and contribution in building the society of tomorrow. The objective of this session is to showcase innovation and best practice and to inspire library associations around the world.

The IFLA  Education and Training Section (SET) in collaboration with Management of Library Associations Section (MLAS), and Continuing Professional Development and Workplace Learning Section (CPDWL), invites proposals to be presented at a two-hour session at the next IFLA General Conference on 24-30 August 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
