As a result of the vacancy for the Chair of the Management of Library Associations Section (MLAS) who is also a member of the Governing Board, a call for nominations was conducted within the members of the MLAS Standing Committee. Only one nomination was received and therefore the nominated candidate, Loida Garcia-Febo (United States of America), is automatically elected.

Loida has been on the Standing Committee of MLAS since 2019 and is the current Information Coordinator. She served two terms as a member of the IFLA Governing Board from 2013-2015 and from 2015-2017. Loida will join the Governing Board immediately and will serve the remainder of the term until the World Library and Information Congress in August 2023.

“I’m pleased that the vacancy has been swiftly resolved and that IFLA’s association members will be represented in the Governing Board discussions and decisions in the coming months. I thank Loida Garcia-Febo for her commitment”, said IFLA President, Barbara Lison.
