Power your advocacy: Library Map of the World data download, more stories and country profiles
26 August 2019
More data, stories and country profiles are now available on the Library Map of the World (LMW) to help to support your advocacy work.
Power your advocacy!
Support your advocacy with new features and functionality now available in the Library Map of the World:
- Library data from 125 countries – now available for download in CSV. Use library data in advocacy presentations, briefs and other messages.
- 18 SDG stories from 13 countries – more are expected to be available by the end of the year. Use SDG stories to motivate, persuade and inspire others to act.
- 13 Country Profiles – with many more to be released as the LMW team continues to work with its content partners. Learn and share essential information about the library field in your country with your stakeholders and decision makers.
The IFLA Library Map of the World (LMW) started as an initiative in 2017 to collect and visualise basic library statistics. In 2018, it grew beyond simply providing data by being a resource for accessing library-related SDG stories.
A major new functionality – Country Profiles – was officially launched at WLIC 2018 in Kuala Lumpur and provides users with the opportunity to easily understand the library landscape in a selected country.
To fill the LMW website with more data, stories and information about the library environment, and to ensure the information is up to date, IFLA is collaborating with its data and content partners (national library associations, national libraries and other institutions) across the world.
To date, more than 190 contributing organisations from 166 countries and areas of the world have engaged in the LMW project. Find out who our Contributors are and get involved to enrich the content!

IFLA seeks your engagement to make more countries available on the map and to increase the data and evidence that will strengthen our combined advocacy efforts.
