Transformative Agreements: SOCRS decided on the topic of IFLA WLIC 2022 session
16 February 2022
The first Serials and Other Continuing Resources Section (SOCRS) Zoom meeting in 2022 was held on Wednesday, 2 February to schedule the subject and format of presentations for our IFLA WLIC 2022 session. Members consulted about “Transformative Agreements” as the topic of the upcoming session. Transformative agreements are those contracts negotiated between institutions (libraries, national and regional consortia) and publishers that transform the business model underlying scholarly journal publishing, moving from one based on subscription to one in which publishers are remunerated a fair price for their open access publishing services.
Committee members agreed to invite speakers for the session. Details about the theme of the session and speakers will be announced in the future.
Other updates from this meeting is about the special issue of Serial Review Journal on scholarly metrics; received papers are under the review process.
IFLA WLIC 2021 speeches about the Impact of OA on serials assessment are going to publish in the journal Ciência da Informação.
Also the Committee is intended to reconsider the virtual seminar entitled “International open access practices: Strategies beyond the APC model” held on September 21, 2020 to see if the lectures have the potential to be published.
